In the small town of Esmeraldas, on the West Coast of Ecuador in South America, five Christian Nuns are dedicated to running a small orphanage for one-hundred homeless, abandoned children.
Safe Harbour Charity for Orphans was registered in 2013 after Lansafe’s Chairman Capt Bill MacDonald whilst travelling through Ecuador came across a small group of Catholic Nuns struggling to support 60 children in the jungle of Esmeraldas. Their plight instigated him to promise his support and help to better their lives and allow the nuns to expand the orphanage and give refuge to a further 40 children. Within 12 months with the donations collected from business colleagues and their families the orphanage has doubled its size and has seen the most amazing changes to the lives of the poor children who now feel they have a family around them.
Sometimes, playing a part in people’s lives and knowing you have helped to make a difference can be immensely rewarding.
